Do’s And Don’ts of Caring for a Mattress!
A good mattress can last for 8-10 years if you take proper care of it and give it the love it needs.
Here are 6 do’s and don’ts to follow when looking to extend the life of your new investment in sleep!
DO
Rotate it often
To ensure proper care of your mattress Dubai based manufacturers recommend rotating it at least four times a year, toe-to-toe and side-to-side.
This practice allows the cushioning to wear out evenly and stops the foam from sagging in the middle.
Just be sure to attach tags to each side
with all the months marked on it, so that you can keep track of which
direction the mattress has been flipped in before, and which way it
needs to be turned next.
Protect the surface
A good quality, washable cover will
protect the surface from all kinds of stains and spills, and prevent the
growth of dust mites and allergens.
If you’ve had problems with dust
allergies in the past, we would also suggest that you opt for latex foam
over feather-filled cushioning.
Give it good support
To prevent sagging and uneven wear,
mattresses need a solid foundation to rest on which provides additional
support in the center.
The best beds for this purpose are
high-quality full-metal frames. If you don’t like the look of metal or
aluminum, innerspring beds will also do a decent job.
DON’T
Sit on it
Contrary to popular belief, our mattresses aren’t actually designed to be sat on in any way or form.
In fact, you run the risk of ruining
your new investment if you do it too often, especially if you’re fond of
sitting up against the headboard to read or work.
This is because when you sit on any part
of the bed, your entire body weight gets concentrated in a small space
which can start wearing out unevenly.
Add a board underneath
We’ve seen plenty of people add
hardboards underneath their mattresses, simply because they thought that
the added support would help extend the life of their new investment.
Don’t do that!
Adding a board between the foundation
and the underside might seem like a good idea at first, but it only
worsens the situation over time.
If you feel like your bed needs an extra board for support, it might be time to finally replace your old mattress.
Remove the tag
Removing the tag certainly won’t harm your new bed in any way (and no, it’s not illegal!), but it does mean that you can’t claim the warranty from mattress Dubai based manufacturers should a problem arise.
The information on the tag will also
offer up a few extra care tips, such as the correct way to clean the
surface in case of a spill, and how often the foam needs to be aired.
